IVF (In-Vitro Technology): A Boon For Mankind

What is IVF?

It is a technology which helps to fertilize the egg cell outside the body. IVF technology is also known as Assisted reproductive technology (ART). In IVF technique sperm cell and egg cell are allowed to fuse in the laboratory. It is stated that around 6.5 million kids have been born by using in-vitro fertilization, i.e., IVF process. According to the CDC, i.e., Centre for Disease Control & Prevention, every year about 1.6% child born by using in vitro fertilization technology.
You must be thinking about why should you go for IVF process or it may be costly or maybe something else but this process is straightforward & nothing is expensive than having a child. In India generally, people avoid in vitro fertilization, i.e., IVF process for several reasons. I've listed some reason which will guide you, in that case, you should go for this process.

Why IVF?

IVF technology is bone for those parents or couples who are not able to achieve child through the natural process even after the unprotected intercourse due to some following reason which is given below:
Blockage or damaging in the fallopian tube (a junction where fertilization process takes place)
Due to an abnormality of the sperm cell, i.e., decreases in the sperm cell count or problem with sperm mortality.
Women who have removed their fallopian tube
 Unexplained Infertility
Women with ovulation disorder or premature ovarian failure

Steps Of IVF

IVF, i.e., In vitro fertilization is mainly done by five simple steps which are listed below:
  1.  Suppuration of Menstrual Cycle
  2.  Super Ovulation
  3.  Egg Retrieving
  4.  Fertilization & Insemination
  5.  Embryo Transfer

Suppuration of Menstrual Cycle

In this process, female are given some drugs & injection for the 10-15 days to avoid the menstrual cycle. So that ovum can be collected from the ovary.

Super Ovulation

Ordinarily female produces one ovum every month, but a collection of one ovum/egg cell can't be sufficient so that the female is given fertility drugs so that they can produce more amount of egg cells. The fertility drugs mainly contain FSH, i.e., Follicle Stimulating Hormone.

Egg Retrieving

Once the superovulation stage complete the egg cell is taken out by using a surgical procedure called Follicular aspiration. To carry out the egg cell, a thin needle is inserted into the ovary through the vagina. The other end of the needle is connected to the suction device which sucks the egg cell. The Follicular aspiration process is repeated for each egg cell.

Fertilization & Insemination

After the collection of the egg cell, all of these are place together with the sperm cell so that the fertilization process takes place. In some case, sperm is directly injected into the egg cell which is called as ICSI, i.e., Intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection. This entire process of IVF technique is completed into the environmentally controlled chamber.
Once the fertilization takes place, the embryo is implanted into the womb of the female. After the implantation of the embryo, women are given progesterone or HGC, i.e., Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin.

Embryo Transfer

It is a minimal process and will take only 5-10 minutes. In this process, you're not injected with anesthesia. Embryo transfer is mainly done by using a thin tube or catheter.

The IVF process is completed with the blood test in which your doctor check the level of HCG hormone. The high level of HCG in the blood shows that the IVF process is successful. For the more information about the IVF technology, you can contact your doctor. Above this paragraph, I've shared a table which contains the list of some IVF center in India with their contact number and location.
